I built this necklace one piece at a time, placing each element, shifting, adjusting—until balance took hold. The weight of silver, the shape of each blossom, the arc of the naja. It had to feel right.
Twelve blossoms, each carrying symbols of growth. Three large fertile seeds, three small infertile seeds, a round flower bud, a single bloomed flower, and one leaf. The effort it takes to nurture life, to create something sustaining. These forms repeat, a cycle in motion.
Then, the naja. A bold presence at the center. It gathers the meaning of every blossom, every symbol, and transforms them into something complete. A culmination. A harvest. The final balance between what has been sown and what remains.
High-grade Sonoran Gold turquoise rests in each setting, its greens and blues shifting like land against sky. The metal, all sterling and fine silver, was shaped entirely by hand—every blossom, every curve of the naja, every mark pressed with purpose.
Artist Inspiration
The green stones brought to mind Estsanatlehi, the Navajo goddess of creation—a reminder of renewal, growth, and the deep connection between seeds, blossoms, and the land itself. As I laid out the fifteen stones, the story took shape.
The turquoise, larger than the silver flowers, became the foundation. The blossoms, smaller, spoke of the effort it takes to nurture something into being. Seeds must be protected, tended to, given time. Not all will grow, but those that do will carry forward, strong enough to thrive.
This piece reflects that cycle—the patience of planting, the labor of tending, the fulfillment of harvest. A balance between what is given and what endures.
