These arch portrait-frame earrings depict a red coral sun over Monument Valley, with a teardrop of turquoise swaying below. The scene is quiet, but nothing is still; they move with the wearer, catching just enough light to be remembered.
Each pair is hand-fabricated. Natural variation in stones and workmanship may occur but never diminishes their integrity.
Artist Inspiration
I’ve driven past Monument Valley more times than I can count. This time I stopped. The mittens stood bright and unflinching against a bold, clear sky like something cut out and pressed flat. I wanted to keep that image. So I carved it by hand from ingot, dropped in a coral sun, and let the turquoise fall beneath. Just the way the scene lived in memory after the road kept going.
FAQs
Are the stones natural?
Yes. The top stone is natural Mediterranean coral. The bottom is Sonoran Mountain turquoise.
What metals are used?
All silver used is sterling, including the oxidized background, bezels, and hand-pulled ear wires. The Monument Valley mittens are hand carved copper.
How is the copper made?
The Monument Valley form is cut and carved by hand from copper sheet, then soldered as an overlay.
What does the red stone represent?
It can be read as a sun, a red moon, or something else. That’s left open for the wearer.
What’s on the back?
Each earring is stamped with the maker’s mark, “sterling,” and the Enoch Michael Monument Valley logo.
How are they made?
Every element is hand-fabricated, including the bezels, carved copper overlay, and ear wires formed from hand-pulled sterling.
